PETA's Amityville Slaughterhouse of Shame

amityville

Although it irks me to provide even the slightest amount of exposure to PETA – one of the biggest pain in the arse and ridiculous organizations I know – I just had to talk about their latest publicity stunt.

Just like an old eccentric millionaire with far more money and spare time than brains, PETA’s latest endeavour was to contact the owners of Long Island’s famous Amityville Horror house with their latest idea.

Oh no they have a brainwave, you better stand back!

No, PETA doesn’t plan on shooting a horror film in the house or lighting themselves on fire (though it wouldn’t be a bad idea) their plan is to set-up a haunted house-style exhibit while the famous movie house is up for sale.

“PETA’s Amityville Slaughterhouse of Horrors” would, according to the organization, graphically depict the horrors that animals who are raised and killed for meat, milk, and eggs must endure on factory farms and in slaughterhouses.

What…come again?

PETA says the exhibit would include animatronic hens locked inside cages and lifelike fish gasping for air as they slowly suffocate on the deck of a fishing boat.

And if that isn’t ridiculous enough, visitors can ask to be locked inside a metal and concrete pig gestation crate, just to see what it feels like. Children would also receive a free crazed, knife-wielding Ronald McDonald doll. (Note to self: gotta get my kids one of those)

Although they haven’t indicated, I can only assume that each visitor to this fine exhibit would also receive a free tofu pie. Mmm, I just love those.

Shame on you PETA, slap yourself in the face and get back to reality, why dont you!

You speak of commercial farming and sportfishing as cruel and barbaric, then you look to using a famous house as a backdrop for your own filthy exhibit to glorify these activities?

Currently on the market for 1.5 Million, there’s no word yet whether the organization plans to actually purchase the famous Long Island home or simply hopes to borrow it for their sick exhibit.

I’ve come to learn that nothing is too lowbrow for these people..although I have to say I do like the Ronald McDonald doll idea…

  1. They are nuts but you have to admit they are marketing genious’. It’s just too bad they can’t direct their energy and efforts toward something legitimate…

As the saying goes…..PETA = People Eating Tasty Animals

    1. See Trapper the problem is all the Celebs fall for this crap!

They join up because they see it as a great cause..you know, save the planet and protect the animals….blah..blah..blah…then they donate loads of money to the organization. (because they can)

Big money means big marketing ideas….

  2. Ah PETA, what a bunch of crazy lunatic fools. They make me sick with their demented ideology, hypocritical BS and general stupidity.

    1. Chris, agreed, but can you tell me why so many people fall for it..

      Outdoorsguy

  3. Like i have said many many times.. we as hunters must get off our butts and fight the same way they do . with blood and guts. not flowers .untill we decide to tell people they are nuts and they are stupid we will continue to loose the battle.

  4. QUOTE: jeff.morrison says: June 9, 2010 at 10:22 am Chris, agreed, but can you tell me why so many people fall for it..END QUOTE

Because of all the exposure they get. Like Charlie Rich says “nobody knows what goes on behind closed doors”…I wouldn’t be surprised if Pamela Anderson is filling her face with a steak right now..But when she’s in front of the camera she endorces these anarchists and gets lots of exposure, Same reason she hooked up with Tommy Lee

  5. OK Trapper, so perhaps if Canada had an outspoken PR man like say..Ted Nugent…to represent us, our hunting and fishing heritage would somehow be more secure?

Man, I only wish it were that easy..but you know how we are..the good old Canadians with our laid back attitudes, not wanting to cause any waves…always polite and accommodating.

Unfortunately, the Ted Nugent way of doing things is not our style here..as much as I appreciate Uncle Ted’s ‘in your face’ cut and dried approach to conservation, I’m not sure that approach would work in the Great White North.

And you know what Ted said when asked about Animal Rights?

“Animal Rights? Sure, animals have rights..they have the right to butter, garlic and cooking on both sides!”

You are correct Trapper, if we don’t soon start pushing back we may loose our heritage forever. And you know once its gone, that’s it!

We all need to take a good Hunting & Fishing Marketing course.

  6. Well, you could always use the old French Canadian verbal answer to anyone who bugs, annoys, pisses you of, and/or tries to take something from you.

    “Va donc ch_er”.

Yeah! it’s the money given to them that supports them. Wonder if they get a income tax receipt for those donations to PETA, that would also explain their will to donate?

Yeah! There’s plenty of room for all God’s creatures. “Right” next to the mashed potatoes.

  7. PETA is using alot of “SHOCK ADS”. Whether they work is up in the air, my take on it is that is does the opposite, called a parodoxical effect. To the public, they make themstelves look extremist and fanatical which today is taboo liking them to terrorists tactics. I think the General Public is smarter than they think, most people I know feel indiferent about fishing, farming, guns and hunting but they are the majority. Any group using shock in your face messages are turning people off, there are more subtle ways of influence. As a hunter, fisherman, outdoors family, we do our best to promote these activities in a positive, truthfull and respectful way, sharing our game meats, people seem to react with support with: “wow I didn’t know it was like that, or that meat is goooood !”

  8. Jeff don’t take this personally, but it is you, the media that make such a big deal about these idiots that gives them the publicity, leave them alone, don’t report what they are doing, and they will go away.

    1. Iggy, I know what you’re saying..but perhaps as Bush24 says…if we expose their ignorance, and have people see how petty and rediculous they truly are..maybe one day they’ll just go away.

Trust me, I was on the fence about the post from the beginning..but honestly, they drove me to it….you think they planned it that way?

  9. Igster; Jeff’s not a reporter he’s a writer…but I hear what you’re saying.

Jeff; as for the Ted Nugent thing I agree he’s too radical for our cause. We need somebody though….Ever consider running for MPP of MP Jeff ?

    1. Very true Trapper, and thank you..NO, I am not a reporter..just one of the very few outdoor writers in Canada..and we’re trying to fight the good fight!

The question is, though, how the hell is it done?

Sorry, never considered the political thing really…wouldnt it be neat to have someone like Ted in charge though..man, you must go on youtube and watch his interview on Fox news..the guy is raser sharp and just never lets up..he’s not our bag, but sure is fun to watch!

      Outdoorsguy

  10. CAN someone explain why you think ted is to radical??? he says what most of us think . i am from the old school if you dont like it and it is not hurting you then F!@## off . I think we need some one 2 times more radical than ted just to wake up canada and to shine the light on common sence .

  11. We seem to forget.Outside of Ontario to our west and east hunting is still very much a way of life and quite frankly they don’t really care about what peta is up to.The media is our worst enemy because they thrive on the sensationalism and if a celeb gets in there, all the better the story is.And in a lot of cases that is the only way some celebs can get publicity unless they make a sex tape or get caught screwing around on there spouse.Hunters and fishermen will never get a lot of attention unless it’s bad.
Myself i think if ted were to get his hair cut short, dress like a lawyer,he could speak and people might listen because what he says is correct and i like the way in which he tells it as it is.But the message does not get across because the messenger looks like he came out of the swamps of mississippi. It’s to bad some of our sports stars who enjoy hunting would not step up to be counted.Ottawa’s Mike Fisher who is so famous on the ice is a hunter or was.Now that he’s engaged to Carry Underwood who was a supporter of peta he might hang up the rifle. But i am sure there are other well known people who enjoy the sport.

    1. Paul, you’re right about Carrie Underwood…she is a big PETA supporter and the American Humane Society, as well…I bet she’s really popular in Nashville or anywhere in the southern US for that matter…yeah, about as popular as the Dixie Chicks were when they spoke out against George W!

I guess her supporters have overlooked that little indiscretion…hopefully Mikey can stay his ground and show her that hunting really isn’t as cruel as ‘they’ would lead you to believe.

  12. its the money. how many people you figure take in salary running peta and probably a damn good one too. they kinda remind me of those t.v. evangalists that used to be around; brainwashing people to send them money while most of them were millionaires. when peta thinks money’s not quite flowing in at a good enough rate they rattle the chains of there followers and go on a recruiting drive to revive the cash flow. strictly business and brainwashing

  13. mcdan and how is that different from any other organization including my beloved OFAH

  14. I don’t know Jeff. Money talks, and that she has plenty of.I think she can find a nose ring big enough for Mikey.

  15. PETA really means People for Extortion, Terrorism, and Anarchy!
One old, eccentric millionaire with an excess of money and time rather than brains is Bob Barker (“Come on down!”) who recently gave this group of loons $2M to renovate a new west coast headquarters in Los Angeles near the intersection of Sunset and Alvarado. His name will figure prominantly on the building according to the PETA terrorists. They’re moving some of their divisions to L.A. (media, youth outreach, etc.) so they can be close to a major media market, clueless celebs and their idiot publicists, equally idiotic recording “artists”, and above all MONEY. I love living in SoCal, but now these freaks will be pushing very hard on the local level to control all aspects of our lives, and I fear that some celebrity- and money-crazed politicians will be stumbling over each other, while running over the rest of us normal types, to give them credibility and even more media exposure. The exposure I’d like to give them would be to push them naked into the arctic wilderness in the middle of winter with one of their, “I’d rather go naked than wear fur” banners.

    1. Very much to the point Veronika – if that is your real name – I like it!

      Outdoorsguy

  16. chessy, your right but they do differ and that’s in the way they carry themselves while doing “business”. i don’t think OFAH does the crazy crap PETA or others like them do to garner attention ie; money

  17. Veronika says “PETA really means People for Extortion, Terrorism, and Anarchy!” Love it! I will use that line whenever I psot about PETA in the future.

    Thanks!!!
